From The Judging Committee |
|
The letter to go out to the judges has been prepared.
The list of judges in the near geographic area has been compiled.
As soon as we receive ‘official’ approval from the UKC, we will be mailing out the letter to the judges.
In our next newsletter, we hope to have their responses for you, and following that, a ballot for you to vote on the judges you’d like to see invited to judge our shows.

Club Status |
|
Please refer to the insert at right ‘Steps to Becoming A Club member. As of now, we are near the bottom of the list of steps to becoming a club. We have our Constitution and By-Laws which have been approved by the UKC. Our original Code of Ethics was rejected as ‘too restrictive’ on breeding practices. Our revised Code Of Ethics has been submitted to UKC. We are waiting for response from them. So, we are in a ‘waiting mode’ to see IF our COE gets approved on this submission. If so, then we schedule a Rules and Regulations |
seminar, and then following that we schedule our first Event. There is a time schedule for applying for events and holding events, and it shows a 4 month gap between application deadline and month of event. Meaning, April 1 would be our deadline to apply for an event to be held in August. Let’s keep our fingers crossed on the time table ! We have scheduled our next club meeting AFTER the classic, to be May 1st in Mt City TN at their show. We HOPE to have our first event in August. Marti |
Business Things to get our Club Going |
|
|
Starting a Club is like a college course in Business !!! First is Incorporation. We chose to do that in the state of NC since so many of our events will be there. Next is obtaining an Employer Identification Number, even tho we wont have employees, we need an EIN to file tax returns. TAXes??? Well, third, we file for an exemption of tax payments, first with federal and then with the state of NC. |
If that’s not enough, we have all the normal stuff like opening a bank account for the club and getting the Treasurer, thanks Fred, to sign and also a second signatory, the President. Right now we are working on the Tax Emeption request. As soon as we are approved by UKC, we will purchase our liability insurance. That’s the big expense your dues will go to pay. |
